Mission Statement
“The objects of the “Uranium Medical Research Institute” (UMRI) are the advancement of education for the public benefit on the effects of uranium and transuranic elements on humans and the biosphere by conducting and publishing independent, objective and expert scientific and medical research on the subject.”
The Uranium Medical Research Institute is organized exclusively for charitable, scientific, and educational purposes, more specifically to advance scientific and medical knowledge of the biological and medical effects of exposure to internal "low-level" radiation; scientific research; collection of specimens for testing and research from persons who have been exposed or contaminated to determine the biological and medical effects of such exposure and contamination; provide information to physicians and patients regarding contamination and genomic aberration levels; publish medical and scientific papers regarding the results of such research; and promotion of collaboration among the medical and scientific communities on the risks of "low-level" radiation exposure. One of UMRI's main partner organizations is the Uranium Medical Research Centre (UMRC), USA.
